Traffic restrictions announced for September 18, 20, 23 and 25; heavy vehicles and ST buses to face restrictions
Vadodara: Ahead of the upcoming Ganesh Visarjan, Vadodara city police have issued a detailed traffic notification for Vadodara Ganesh Visarjan 2026 to manage vehicle movement and ensure the immersion process takes place smoothly.
According to the notification, special traffic arrangements will be implemented on September 18, 20, 23 and 25, when Ganesh idols will be immersed at designated artificial ponds across the city. Around 90 major and internal roads will be closed for regular traffic, while 12 locations will be declared no-parking zones. Restrictions will also be imposed on ST buses, heavy goods vehicles and certain vehicles associated with Ganesh processions.

The traffic restrictions will remain in force from 9 am on each of the four immersion days until the respective processions and immersion activities are completed. Police have prepared diversion arrangements to prevent congestion around the immersion locations and procession routes.

- 12 important locations will be declared no-parking zones.
- ST buses and heavy goods vehicles will face restrictions on around 12 major roads.

11 Artificial Ponds Prepared for Ganesh Visarjan
To manage the large number of idols expected for immersion, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation has arranged 11 artificial ponds at different locations.
The locations mentioned in the traffic notification include:
- Gorwa Dashama Temple
- Navlakhi Ground
- Beel village
- SSV-2
- Manjalpur
- Kishanwadi UPHC
- Leprosy Ground
- Harni-Sama Lake
- Other designated immersion facilities across the city
Special arrangements have also been made according to idol size. At the Tarsali and Makarpura village ponds, arrangements have been specified for idols larger than five feet, while the Harni Sculpture Park pond has provisions for idols above three feet.
Heavy Vehicles and ST Buses to Face Restrictions
The traffic plan specifically targets heavy vehicles and ST buses on selected roads because of the expected increase in pedestrian and procession movement.
Earlier during the festival, Vadodara police had also announced traffic restrictions around the Shreyas School Three Roads and Lalbaug Bridge area because of the concentration of Ganesh pandals and expected crowds. Those restrictions were scheduled from September 14 through September 26, during evening and night hours or until traffic conditions improved.
