Jagdish Vishwakarma announces fresh appointments to Gujarat BJP state executive committee as vacancies arise from organisational changes
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed 11 new members to its state executive committee, according to an organisational order issued on September 16, 2026.
The appointments were made by Gujarat BJP state president Jagdish Vishwakarma to fill vacancies created after some existing state executive members were given other organisational responsibilities. The new appointments take effect immediately.
The latest move comes as the Gujarat BJP continues organisational appointments and restructuring ahead of the 2027 Gujarat Assembly election. In August, the BJP had also appointed national general secretary Tarun Chugh as Gujarat in-charge, with the appointment taking effect immediately.

The appointment order was issued by Dr Prashant Korat, Gujarat BJP state general secretary and headquarters in-charge.
Why the Latest BJP Appointments Matter

The appointments also add representation from several parts of Gujarat, including Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Amreli, Dang, Ahmedabad’s Karnavati unit, Gandhinagar, Valsad, Kheda and Mehsana. The BJP had earlier announced its broader Gujarat state executive committee in January 2026. That list included state executive members as well as 26 senior leaders and veterans as special invitees.
Gujarat BJP’s Organisational Activity in 2026
The latest appointments are part of a year that has seen several organisational decisions within the Gujarat BJP. In March, the party announced new state morcha and district/city prabharis, including appointments covering its youth, women, OBC, SC, ST, Kisan and minority morchas. The party also announced 42 district and city prabharis.
The BJP subsequently announced new state co-spokespersons and media co-incharges, including representatives from Surat, Valsad, Ahmedabad, Mehsana and other organisational units. In August, the party appointed Tarun Chugh as Gujarat in-charge, adding another senior organisational appointment ahead of the state’s next Assembly election.
Gujarat Politics: Focus Turns Towards 2027
Gujarat is scheduled to hold its next Assembly election in 2027, making party organisation an important part of the political activity taking place during 2026.
The BJP’s latest state executive appointments come alongside organisational developments within other political parties in the state. The Gujarat Congress, for example, has also been undertaking organisational restructuring, including changes involving district-level units.
However, the September 16 BJP announcement itself does not state that these 11 appointments are specifically linked to candidate selection or election campaign planning. The stated reason is to fill vacancies resulting from other organisational assignments.

With the latest additions, the Gujarat BJP has filled vacancies in its state executive committee across multiple districts and metropolitan units.
