In a major update for daily commuters, the Surat Police Commissioner has extended traffic restrictions and parking prohibitions in several parts of the city due to the ongoing Surat Metro Rail Project. The revised notification will remain in effect until November 30, 2026, ensuring smooth traffic management around major metro construction sites.
The order, issued by Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot, extends an earlier notification that was set to expire on May 31, 2026. The restrictions cover roads surrounding the Surat Railway (Lambe Hanuman) Metro Station, Maskati Hospital Metro Station, and Chowk Bazaar Metro Station, where construction activities are currently underway.

Surat Metro Project Continues to Transform Urban Mobility
The Surat Metro Rail Project is one of Gujarat’s largest urban transportation initiatives and is expected to significantly improve public transport connectivity across the city. However, large-scale construction activities have necessitated temporary traffic diversions and road closures in some of Surat’s busiest commercial and residential zones.
City officials have urged residents and commuters to follow designated alternate routes and cooperate with traffic authorities to avoid congestion and ensure public safety. With the restrictions now extended until November 30, 2026, commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and stay updated with official traffic advisories issued by Surat Police.
