Ekta Nagar, Narmada, September 21, 2026: The prestigious 72nd National Film Awards ceremony will be held on September 22, 2026, at Ekta Nagar near the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. The event will be attended by President of India Droupadi Murmu, who will present awards to 92 winners, including the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
The ceremony marks a significant milestone in the history of the National Film Awards, as it will be organised outside New Delhi for the first time since the awards were introduced in 1954.
Statue of Unity to Host National Film Awards Ceremony
The grand ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Bus Bay area of the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar.
According to the event details, the main award ceremony will be conducted between 4 pm and 6 pm on September 22 and is expected to last approximately 75 minutes. A large German aluminium structural dome is being prepared at the venue to accommodate the prestigious event and its guests.
