Vadodara Municipal Election Sees Highest Voting in Last Four Elections
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) Election 2026 recorded the highest voter turnout compared to the last four municipal elections, marking a significant rise in public participation.
According to the official figures released late at night after polling, a total of 53.34% voting was recorded across 19 wards of the city. This higher turnout reflects increased voter awareness and active participation in deciding the future leadership of the city.
The election was held for 74 seats after two seats out of the total 76 seats were declared uncontested earlier. Political parties and election officials have described the turnout as a strong sign of democratic participation and public engagement in local governance.
Voting Held for 74 Seats Across 19 Wards
The civic election covered 19 wards with a total of 76 seats. However, since two seats were declared unopposed, voting was conducted for 74 seats on polling day. Voters across Vadodara turned up at polling booths throughout the day, and polling remained peaceful under administrative supervision.
Ward Number 14 Records Highest Voting
Among all wards, Ward Number 14 reported the highest voter turnout, showing strong public engagement and political interest in the area. Local officials stated that steady voter turnout continued throughout the day, especially during the evening hours, contributing to the final percentage.
Ward Number 11 Reports Lowest Turnout
On the other hand, Ward Number 11 recorded the lowest voter turnout among all 19 wards. Authorities believe that factors such as local voter behavior, area-specific issues, and turnout patterns influenced the difference in participation levels across wards.
EVM Machines Shifted to Strong Room After Polling
After voting concluded on Monday evening, election officials immediately began the process of safely transporting Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to the designated strong room.
The EVMs were moved under strict security arrangements to prevent any irregularities and ensure complete transparency in the election process.
Security personnel remained deployed during the transportation and sealing procedures to maintain law and order and protect the integrity of the election.
Strong Security Around EVM Storage
The strong room has been placed under round-the-clock security surveillance with restricted access only for authorized election officials and security personnel. Candidates and party representatives have also been informed about the safety arrangements as part of the standard election procedure.
Vote Counting Tomorrow at Polytechnic Campus
The counting of votes for the Vadodara Municipal Election 2026 will be conducted tomorrow at Polytechnic, where all final preparations have already been completed by the administration.
The counting center is expected to witness the presence of candidates, counting agents, and party workers from major political parties including BJP, Congress, and AAP.
Administrative Preparations Completed
