Ekta Nagar, October 26, 2026: The Statue of Unity in Gujarat is helping promote national unity and patriotism among younger generations through a special educational initiative that offers a 50% discount on entry tickets to children from eligible educational and social institutions.
Launched in 2024, the initiative aims to make educational visits to the world-famous monument more accessible and help students learn about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s life, leadership and contribution to the integration of princely states into a united India.
According to the figures shared for the initiative, 1,86,006 beneficiaries from 2,157 institutions have received the 50% ticket discount since its launch.
Schools, Colleges and Special Institutions Included
The initiative covers children associated with government and private schools, colleges, training institutions and organisations working for the welfare and development of persons with disabilities.
The discount is intended to make visits to one of India’s most prominent national monuments more affordable for students from different backgrounds. Including institutions serving children with disabilities also supports wider access to educational and cultural experiences.
Learning History Beyond Textbooks
Educational visits to the Statue of Unity give students an opportunity to learn about Sardar Patel’s role in India’s freedom struggle, his leadership and his historic contribution to the integration of princely states after independence.
The experience connects classroom learning with a real-world historical setting, encouraging students to explore India’s past and better understand the importance of national unity, civic responsibility and citizenship.
