Continuous rainfall over the past two days has severely affected a school in Vijalpor, Navsari, where heavy mud and waterlogging accumulated at the playground and the main entrance. The unsafe conditions disrupted regular educational activities, making it difficult for students and staff to access the school campus.
The muddy surroundings also raised serious health and safety concerns, especially for young students attending the school during the ongoing monsoon season.
323 Students Shifted to Nearby Sai Temple
Considering the health risks posed by the muddy and waterlogged campus, the school administration took immediate action by shifting more than 323 students to the nearby Shri Sai Temple, where temporary arrangements were made to continue academic activities.
Teachers ensured that all students were relocated safely without panic, allowing classes to continue in a safer environment until the school premises become suitable for use.
Parents Express Anger Over Civic Negligence
The incident has sparked strong reactions from parents and local residents, who have criticized the municipal authorities for inadequate pre-monsoon cleaning and drainage maintenance. According to local residents, if drains had been cleaned properly before the monsoon, the school premises would not have faced such severe mud accumulation and waterlogging. Parents demanded immediate corrective action to ensure that students are not forced to study under such unsafe conditions.
Municipal Commissioner Visits the School
Following public concern, Navsari Municipal Commissioner visited the affected school to assess the situation personally.
During the inspection, the Commissioner directed civic officials to:
- Remove accumulated mud immediately.
- Clear blocked drainage systems.
- Restore safe access to the school entrance.
- Ensure proper sanitation around the campus.
- Complete the cleanup work on priority.
Officials have assured that all necessary measures will be taken to restore normal conditions as quickly as possible.
Student Safety Remains the Top Priority
School authorities emphasized that relocating students to the Sai Temple was a purely precautionary measure to safeguard their health and ensure uninterrupted education. The administration will continue monitoring the campus, and students will return to the school only after the premises are declared completely safe and hygienic.

Heavy rainfall continues to impact several parts of South Gujarat, leading to waterlogging, muddy roads, and disruptions in public services.
