Navsari Flood Alert: With continuous heavy rainfall and rising water levels in the Purna River, the Navsari Municipal Corporation (NMC) has intensified its flood preparedness measures to ensure the safety and well-being of residents. The civic administration has activated emergency response teams, arranged food supplies, and established shelter facilities for people who may be affected by flooding.
Purna River Approaches Danger Level due to Navsari Flood Alert
Persistent rainfall in Navsari and upstream regions has caused the Purna River to rise significantly, bringing it close to the danger mark. Authorities are closely monitoring the river’s water level as several low-lying areas remain vulnerable to flooding if rainfall continues.
More Than 27 Inches of Rainfall Recorded
According to officials, Navsari has received more than 27 inches of rainfall since the beginning of the monsoon season. The relentless downpour has increased the risk of flooding in various parts of the city, prompting the administration to remain on high alert.
Municipal Corporation Begins Preparing Food Packets
To ensure that no resident goes hungry during any flood emergency, the Navsari Municipal Corporation has begun preparing khichdi for distribution across affected areas. Initially, meals are being prepared for more than 2,000 people, with the capacity to increase production if required.
Administrative staff of the Municipal Corporation have also joined the food preparation efforts to ensure timely distribution.
Food Packets to Reach Every Affected Area
The civic body has made arrangements to deliver food packets to every flood-affected locality across the city. Officials stated that the objective is to ensure that every affected resident receives cooked meals without delay, especially in areas that may become inaccessible due to flooding.
Shelter Homes Ready for Emergency
The administration has also arranged temporary shelter homes for families who may need to evacuate their homes because of rising floodwaters. Necessary facilities, including food and basic amenities, have been kept ready to accommodate affected residents.
Commissioner Appeals to Citizens
Navsari Municipal Commissioner Jayesh Upadhyay has appealed to residents to remain indoors unless travel is absolutely necessary. Citizens have been advised to avoid flooded roads, follow official advisories, and cooperate with emergency teams during rescue and relief operations.
24×7 Emergency Control Rooms Activated
To provide immediate assistance, the administration has activated dedicated emergency control rooms that will operate round the clock.
