Ramlila and Ravana Dahan at Polo Ground
Polo Ground will host the Dussehra programme, featuring a Ramlila performance depicting episodes from the Ramayana. Following the performance, effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnad will be set on fire as part of the traditional celebrations.
The event has been organised for the past 25 years by the group referred to as NIKKA in the supplied report. The organisers are putting the final touches to arrangements for this year’s celebration.
50-Foot Ravana Effigy to Be the Main Attraction for Vadodara Dussehra
The 50-foot Ravana effigy is expected to be the highlight of the event. Effigies of Kumbhakarna and Meghnad are also being prepared for the ceremony.
Special artisans have been brought to Vadodara from Uttar Pradesh to create the effigies using traditional techniques. Work is underway to complete the structures ahead of the Dussehra programme.
Thousands Expected to Attend the Celebration
The Polo Ground event is expected to draw families and visitors from across Vadodara and surrounding areas. The Ramlila performance, followed by the burning of the three effigies, is expected to create a festive atmosphere.
Organisers are completing the remaining arrangements for the celebration. Visitors should check local announcements for the confirmed programme timings and traffic or entry arrangements before travelling to the venue.
Dussehra Celebrates the Victory of Good Over Evil
Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is celebrated across India to mark the triumph of good over evil. The tradition of Ravana Dahan represents Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana and serves as a reminder of the importance of truth and righteousness.
Vadodara’s annual celebration at Polo Ground continues this tradition through Ramlila, cultural festivities and the symbolic burning of the effigies.
