Gandhinagar: In a major development for devotees and tourists travelling from Gujarat to Ayodhya, the Gujarat government is developing a modern Gujarat Yatri Niwas at an estimated cost of ₹80.25 crore.
The facility is being planned to provide comfortable accommodation and modern amenities for people from Gujarat visiting Ayodhya for the darshan of Lord Ram. According to Gujarat Samachar and other reports published on October 8, construction work has already started and the facility is expected to be opened within about a year.
308-Bed Gujarat Yatri Niwas to Come Up in Ayodhya
The proposed Yatri Niwas will be developed across 6,929.28 square metres of land in an upcoming township in Ayodhya.
The complex will have 308 beds across different categories of rooms, providing accommodation for pilgrims travelling from Gujarat. It will also feature a large hall with a seating capacity of 864 people.
The project is being developed by the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL).
Modern Facilities Planned for Gujarat Pilgrims
The Yatri Niwas is being designed as more than just a place to stay. Several facilities are planned within the complex, including:
- 308-bed accommodation
- 864-seat large hall
- Reception centre
- Visitor lounge
- Souvenir shop
- Multipurpose hall
- Auditorium
- Meeting rooms
- Dining area
- Terrace garden
- Digital display systems
- Landscaped areas
These facilities are intended to make the stay more comfortable and convenient for pilgrims and tourist groups visiting Ayodhya.
Construction Has Already Started
According to the reports, construction of the Yatri Niwas has already commenced. The Gujarat government expects the facility to be ready and opened for devotees from Gujarat within approximately one year.
The project comes as Ayodhya continues to attract large numbers of visitors following the consecration of the Ram Mandir in January 2024.
A Dedicated Facility for Gujarat Visitors
For Gujarati devotees travelling to Ayodhya, the new facility could provide a dedicated accommodation option within the temple city.
The project is also being positioned as a way to strengthen the cultural and spiritual connection between Gujarat and Ayodhya, while providing visitors with a more familiar and organised stay experience.
With the addition of accommodation, dining, gathering spaces and visitor facilities, the Yatri Niwas is expected to serve not only individual pilgrims but also larger groups travelling from Gujarat for religious and cultural visits.
Gujarat-Ayodhya Religious Tourism Gets a Boost
The ₹80.25 crore project represents a significant investment in pilgrimage-related infrastructure outside Gujarat.
As Ayodhya continues to develop as a major religious tourism destination, dedicated facilities for visitors from different states are becoming increasingly important. The Gujarat government’s Yatri Niwas is expected to make travel and accommodation more convenient for devotees from the state once it becomes operational.
For Gujaratis planning an Ayodhya visit in the coming years, the upcoming facility could become an important accommodation option.
