SURAT: Ahead of Independence Day, the diamond city of Surat witnessed an overwhelming wave of patriotism on Thursday, August 13, 2026, as a massive Tiranga Yatra was organized under the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign. The grand tricolor rally commenced from the Y-Junction on Dumas Road and culminated at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, drawing thousands of enthusiastic citizens.
Key Highlights of the Event
- High-Profile Presence: The patriotic rally saw enthusiastic participation from prominent leaders, including Union Minister C.R. Patil and Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, who joined the masses to wave the tricolor and boost public morale.
- A Sea of Tricolors: Thousands of citizens, students, and local leaders draped in patriotic fervor walked the route holding long tricolor flags, echoing slogans of national pride that turned the entire Dumas Road corridor into a vibrant spectacle of unity.
- Thematic Display: A major highlight of the event was the special decoration at the Y-Junction, beautifully themed around “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” (One India, Great India), which caught the attention of all attendees.
Traffic and Security Arrangements
Due to the massive scale of the footfall, the Surat City Police had implemented strict temporary traffic diversions and restrictions starting from afternoon hours along major routes connecting Magdalla, SVNIT Circle, and the Y-Junction. Alternative routes were provided for commuters heading toward Surat Airport and neighboring areas to ensure smooth management, while emergency and essential service vehicles were exempted from the restrictions.
The grand success of the Tiranga Yatra once again showcased Surat’s deep-rooted national pride, setting an inspiring tone for the Independence Day celebrations across Gujarat.
