In a major crackdown on organised crime, Vadodara City Police have registered a case under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GUJSICTOC) Act against nine members of the notorious Sindhi Gang, including alleged gang leader Harry Sindhi. The action is aimed at dismantling a criminal network allegedly involved in bootlegging, extortion, assault, robbery, and other serious offences across Vadodara and nearby areas.
The operation marks one of the most significant actions taken against organised criminal groups in the city in recent months.
Police Tighten Grip on Organised Crime
According to Vadodara Police, the gang has been under surveillance for its alleged involvement in multiple criminal activities. Officials said the accused operated as an organised syndicate and built an extensive network for illegal activities, prompting authorities to invoke the stringent provisions of the GUJSICTOC Act. The case was registered after investigators gathered evidence linking the gang to repeated offences and organised criminal operations.
Gang Rivalry Led to Escalation of Crime
Police investigations revealed that Alpu Sindhi and Harry Sindhi were once associates before differences between them escalated into a bitter rivalry.
Officials said the fallout allegedly resulted in:
- Gang rivalry and violent confrontations

- Expansion of illegal activities
The rivalry reportedly intensified criminal activities in several parts of Vadodara.
Illegal Liquor Network Spanned Multiple States
Investigators also alleged that members of the gang were involved in transporting illegal foreign liquor from neighbouring states into Gujarat.
According to police, the network allegedly:
- Procured liquor from outside Gujarat
- Operated organised distribution channels
- Supplied liquor across Vadodara and surrounding regions
- Used multiple associates to avoid detection
The investigation into the liquor smuggling network is continuing.
Four Accused Arrested, Search On for Others
Vadodara Police have arrested four accused in connection with the case:
- Narendra
- Rohit
- Deepak
- Bharat
Officials confirmed that efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining accused named in the FIR. Police teams have launched search operations at multiple locations.
