A potentially dangerous situation was averted in Palsana village of Pardi taluka, Valsad district, after a venomous Indian Cobra became trapped in a net at a local farm. The incident occurred at the farm of local resident Sachinbhai Patel, who noticed the snake struggling in the net. Alarmed by the sight, he immediately contacted the Pardi Jivdaya Group for assistance.
Upon receiving the information, members of the rescue team, including Yasin Multani, Rishi Thakur, and Faizan Rain, rushed to the location and began assessing the situation. After careful inspection, the team discovered that the trapped reptile was not an ordinary snake but a 4-foot-long Indian Cobra (Naja naja), one of India’s most venomous snake species known for its powerful neurotoxic venom.
Cobra Safely Freed and Released
Understanding the risks involved, the rescuers carried out the operation with extreme caution. The cobra was successfully removed from the net without causing harm to the snake or nearby residents. Following the rescue, the snake was safely released into a forested area away from human habitation, ensuring the safety of both wildlife and local communities.
Increased Snake Sightings During Monsoon
Wildlife experts note that snake sightings tend to increase during the monsoon season as reptiles often move into residential areas seeking shelter from flooding and changing environmental conditions. The Pardi Jivdaya Group has appealed to citizens not to harm snakes if they are spotted near homes or workplaces.
Citizens Urged Not to Kill Snakes
The rescue team emphasized that snakes play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance and controlling rodent populations. Instead of attempting to kill or capture them, residents are advised to contact trained snake rescuers or animal welfare organizations for safe removal.
Authorities and wildlife volunteers continue to encourage public awareness about coexisting safely with wildlife during the rainy season.
