Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi emphasized the importance of developing children into responsible citizens rather than merely academically successful students while addressing the Shala Praveshotsav and Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav held at Maharani Shantadevi Primary School in Khodiyar Nagar, Vadodara.
The event was attended by Women and Child Welfare Minister Manisha Vakil, along with education officials, public representatives, parents, and students.
Teachers Hold the Responsibility of Shaping Lives
Addressing the gathering, Harsh Sanghavi said that parents entrust their children to teachers with immense faith and confidence. He urged educators to honor that trust by contributing to the holistic development of students.
He stressed that education should not become a burden and encouraged schools to provide joyful, activity-based learning experiences. According to him, children should be exposed not only to academics but also to sports, science, music, and arts so that they can confidently face life’s challenges and become capable citizens. The Deputy Chief Minister also appealed to parents to inculcate healthy habits, cleanliness, and a positive lifestyle among children from an early age.
1,354 Students Shift from Private to Government Schools
Harsh Sanghavi described the enrollment of 1,354 students from private schools into municipal government schools as a significant achievement of the Vadodara Education Committee and district administration.
He noted that municipal schools offering Gujarati, Hindi, and English-medium education currently serve 49,924 students, while 7,544 new admissions have been recorded during the current academic year. The Deputy CM also appreciated the efforts made by education authorities to bring school dropouts back into the education system through door-to-door outreach campaigns.
New Academic Journey Begins for Thousands of Children
During the ceremony, children admitted to Anganwadi, Balvatika, and Class 1 were formally welcomed into the education system by dignitaries. According to officials, 4,167 students secured admission to Balvatika, while a total of 7,544 students, including those transferring from private institutions, received fresh admissions in municipal schools. Special enrollment initiatives were also conducted for children with disabilities.
Vision 2030 for Modern Education
The event also highlighted the Vadodara Municipal Education Committee’s ambitious Vision 2030 plan. Governance Officer Dr. Vipul Bharatiya outlined efforts to collaborate with industries and CSR organizations to modernize schools with high-tech facilities, teacher training programs, and experiential learning opportunities aligned with India’s National Education Policy.
Outstanding students, para-athletes with disabilities, and re-enrolled students were honored during the program. Dignitaries also visited the school campus and reviewed educational facilities.
