Vadodara Rain: Heavy rainfall has once again exposed waterlogging issues in parts of Vadodara. Residents of Payal Society and Jai Ambe Society in Karodiya, an area under the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), reported that rainwater entered several homes after the recent showers, forcing some families to temporarily leave their houses.
According to local residents, even a relatively short spell of rainfall led to severe water accumulation inside residential areas, disrupting normal life and causing damage to household belongings.
Residents Demand Immediate Action due to Vadodara Rain
Residents have appealed to the Vadodara Municipal Corporation to urgently resolve the recurring drainage and waterlogging problems. They have requested Municipal Commissioner officials to conduct a site inspection and implement permanent measures to prevent flooding in the area.
According to residents, they attempted to contact their local councillor regarding the situation but claimed they were unable to receive a response. Residents also alleged that they have repeatedly raised the issue with local public representatives without receiving a satisfactory solution. These claims have not been independently verified.
Protest Held Against Public Representatives
As a mark of protest, local residents demonstrated against what they described as a lack of action by elected representatives. During the protest, some residents reportedly immersed photographs of their local MLA and councillor in floodwater to express their dissatisfaction with the handling of the recurring waterlogging problem.
Residents also stated that they had previously raised concerns with the area’s MLA regarding flooding in Karodiya and are now urging the representative to visit the affected societies and assess the situation firsthand.
Demand for Permanent Drainage Solution
Residents have called upon the Vadodara Municipal Corporation to undertake an immediate survey of the affected area and implement long-term drainage infrastructure improvements. They believe that without a permanent solution, the societies will continue to face flooding during every monsoon season.
Local citizens have urged civic authorities to prioritize public safety and infrastructure development to prevent similar incidents in the future.
