First Phase of PM E-Bus Project Begins in Vadodara
Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has received 7 new electric buses under the Central Governmentβs PM E-Bus Project, marking a major step toward improving eco-friendly public transportation in the city.
A total of 250 electric buses have been allocated to Vadodara Corporation under this ambitious project. In the first phase, 40 buses are expected to arrive, out of which 7 buses reached the city today. Municipal Commissioner conducted an inspection of the newly arrived electric buses and reviewed their advanced facilities and readiness for public operations.
Fully Air-Conditioned and Equipped with Modern Technology
The newly arrived electric buses are fully air-conditioned and designed with advanced technology to provide passengers with a comfortable and smooth travel experience. These buses are equipped with modern safety features, better seating arrangements, digital systems, and improved passenger convenience facilities.
One of the key highlights is that the buses include special access facilities for divyang passengers, making public transport more inclusive and accessible for all citizens. Officials stated that these buses are designed to meet modern urban transport standards and will significantly improve daily commuting across Vadodara.

Charging Stations and New Bus Terminals Under Development
To support the operation of electric buses, Vadodara Municipal Corporation has also developed a terminal at Gotri. In addition, new bus terminals will be constructed across all four zones of the city to strengthen the transport network and improve route efficiency.
Each terminal will have dedicated EV charging stations, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operation of the buses. The charging infrastructure is a major part of the PM E-Bus Project, helping the city move toward sustainable and green transportation solutions.
One Full Charge Will Run Bus for 380 Kilometers
According to officials, these electric buses can travel up to 380 kilometers on a single full charge, making them highly efficient for city transport operations. This long-range capacity will reduce fuel dependency and lower operational costs compared to traditional buses.
The buses are expected to provide reliable transport services while also reducing air pollution and promoting environmental sustainability in Vadodara.

Existing CNG Buses to Operate in VUDA Areas
Once the new electric buses begin operating on city routes, the currently running CNG buses will be shifted to VUDA (Vadodara Urban Development Authority) areas.
This move will help improve transportation services both inside the city and in surrounding suburban regions. Officials confirmed that the electric buses will soon begin operating on city roads once final inspections and operational approvals are completed.
The arrival of these buses is seen as a major development in Gujaratβs urban transport system and a significant boost for Vadodaraβs smart city infrastructure. With modern technology, environmental benefits, and better passenger facilities, the PM E-Bus Project is expected to transform public transportation in Vadodara in the coming months.
