Gandhinagar, October 19, 2026: Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi is on an official visit to Japan to strengthen economic ties, attract international investment and build new business partnerships ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.
During his visit, Sanghavi held a high-level “Invest in Gujarat” roundtable meeting with Japanese industrialists and investors in Osaka on Monday. The meeting focused on strengthening Gujarat–Japan economic cooperation and exploring opportunities for investment and industrial collaboration.
Harsh Sanghavi Meets Japanese Investors in Osaka
At the Osaka meeting, Harsh Sanghavi invited Japanese business leaders to explore Gujarat’s industrial and investment opportunities. The discussions were aimed at developing stronger connections between Japanese companies and industries in Gujarat.
The outreach is part of Gujarat’s wider effort to attract global investors and expand international business partnerships ahead of the next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.
The state is looking to strengthen cooperation across industries, encourage new investment and create opportunities for businesses to connect with international markets. However, specific investment commitments arising from the Osaka meeting have not been confirmed in the reports reviewed.
Focus on Gujarat–Japan Economic Relations
Japan is an important international partner for industrial cooperation, and Gujarat is seeking to deepen its engagement with Japanese businesses.
The visit provides an opportunity to present Gujarat as a destination for investment and industrial expansion. Stronger business connections could help companies explore new markets, partnerships and potential projects in the state.
The meetings also form part of Gujarat’s broader international outreach in preparation for Vibrant Gujarat 2027.
Harsh Sanghavi Interacts with Gujarati Community in Kobe
Before the Osaka roundtable, Sanghavi met members of the Gujarati and Indian communities at the historic Kobe India Club, which was established in 1904.
During the interaction, he called for sustained engagement between Gujarat and Gujaratis living abroad, rather than limiting communication to occasional official delegations.
He highlighted the potential for the overseas Gujarati community to help Gujarat’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) connect with Japanese businesses, explore new markets and develop commercial partnerships.
Sanghavi also emphasised the importance of creating a structured mechanism for ongoing dialogue. According to reports, the Gujarat Industries Department and the Indian Embassy would coordinate efforts to support business collaboration.
Japan Visit Linked to Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2027
The international visit is part of preparations and investment outreach connected with the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.
According to reports, Sanghavi’s itinerary includes Osaka, Kobe and Tokyo in Japan, followed by Daegu and Seoul in South Korea. The programme is focused on engagement with international industrialists, investors and business communities.
The meetings are intended to strengthen Gujarat’s international economic relationships and explore opportunities for future industrial growth.
What the Visit Could Mean for Gujarat
The success of the visit will ultimately depend on whether discussions lead to concrete investment proposals, industrial partnerships and business activity in Gujarat.
For the state, closer engagement with Japanese investors and the overseas Gujarati community could open pathways for MSMEs and larger industries to expand their international reach.
Further details about any investment agreements or specific projects will depend on official announcements following the meetings.
