Valsad: Rail passengers travelling through South Gujarat and the Valsad railway station area should prepare for changes in train services from August 21 to August 23, 2026, as Western Railway undertakes major infrastructure work at Valsad station.
The planned Non-Interlocking (NI) block is being carried out for the commissioning of an Electronic Interlocking system at Valsad railway station. According to the railway advisory, the block will begin at 10 am on Friday, August 21, and continue until 3:30 pm on Sunday, August 23. The work will affect railway lines in both directions, resulting in cancellations, short termination, short origination, delays and regulation of several trains.
Several Trains to Be Affected on August 21
On August 21, multiple services will be affected because of the Valsad station block.
Train No. 12930 Vadodara–Valsad Intercity Express will be short-terminated at Bilimora, with its service cancelled between Bilimora and Valsad.
Train No. 59046 Valsad–Virar Passenger will originate from Udvada instead of Valsad, while the Valsad–Udvada section will remain cancelled.
Similarly, Train No. 59023 Mumbai Central–Valsad Passenger will terminate at Pardi, with the Pardi–Valsad section cancelled.
Train No. 12944 Kanpur Central–Valsad Express will also be short-terminated at Bhestan, with services between Bhestan and Valsad cancelled.
Major Changes on August 22
The impact will be more extensive on August 22, with several passenger and express trains affected.
The 12930 Vadodara–Valsad Intercity Express will terminate at Bilimora, while the Bilimora–Valsad section will remain cancelled.
Train No. 19012 Dahod–Valsad Passenger will terminate at Udhna, and Train No. 20960 Vadnagar–Valsad Intercity Express will terminate at Navsari.
The 19011 Valsad–Dahod Express will originate from Bilimora, while Train No. 19051 Valsad–Muzaffarpur Express will originate from Bhestan instead of Valsad.
Train No. 19056 Udhna–Bandra Terminus Intercity Express will be fully cancelled on August 22.
Several long-distance trains will also face delays or regulation. These include the 22718 Secunderabad–Rajkot Superfast Express, 12217 Kochuveli–Chandigarh Sampark Kranti Express, 22476 Coimbatore–Hisar AC Superfast Express, and several other services.
More Cancellations and Changes on August 23
The disruption will continue on August 23, with several services either starting from alternate stations or being fully cancelled.
The 20959 Valsad–Vadnagar Intercity Express will originate from Udhna, while the 12929 Valsad–Vadodara Intercity Express will originate from Navsari.
The 69151 Valsad–Surat MEMU will originate from Amalsad, and the Valsad–Amalsad section will remain cancelled.
Other services, including 19011 Valsad–Dahanu Road Express and 04120 Valsad–Subedarganj Special, will also have their originating stations changed.
Western Railway has also listed several fully cancelled services for August 23, including the 19055 Bandra Terminus–Udhna Intercity Express, 20996 Bandra Terminus–Ajmer Superfast Express, 69153 Umargam Road–Valsad MEMU, 22929 Dahanu Road–Vadodara Express, 22930 Vadodara–Dahanu Road Express and 69154 Valsad–Umargam Road MEMU.
Why Are Trains Being Affected?
The changes are linked to the planned Non-Interlocking work at Valsad railway station for commissioning the Electronic Interlocking system.
Electronic interlocking is an important railway signalling system designed to control train movements and prevent conflicting routes from being set simultaneously. The planned work therefore requires operational changes on the railway network around Valsad. The block is scheduled to affect the main railway lines in both directions during the August 21–23 period.
Passengers Advised to Check Train Status
With multiple services being cancelled, short-terminated, short-originated, delayed or regulated, passengers travelling through Valsad, Surat, Udhna, Bilimora, Navsari, Bhestan and nearby stations should check their train status before leaving for the station.
Western Railway has advised passengers to plan their journeys accordingly and verify the latest running status before travelling. Passengers can also use the railway enquiry system or 139 for updated information.
The changes are temporary and are linked to the scheduled infrastructure work. Once the Non-Interlocking block is completed, normal train operations are expected to resume, subject to railway operational conditions.
For passengers travelling during the weekend of August 21 to 23, checking the latest train status shortly before departure will be especially important because services may be regulated or rescheduled in addition to the announced changes.
