Continuous heavy rainfall in Valsad and Dharampur talukas has led to a sharp rise in the water level of the Vanki River, creating a flood-like situation as fresh inflows from the upstream areas continue to gush into the river. The river is currently flowing in full force, with dramatic visuals of the overflowing waters drawing the attention of local residents.
Locals Seen Fishing Despite Dangerous River Flow
Even as the Vanki River remains in spate, several locals were seen gathering along the riverbanks to catch fish, risking their lives amid the strong current.
The dangerous activity has raised concerns among authorities, as the swift river flow could prove fatal if anyone slips or gets swept away by the current. Officials have urged residents to stay away from overflowing rivers, streams, and other water bodies until the weather improves.
32 Roads Closed Across Valsad District
The ongoing rainfall has also severely affected road connectivity across the district.
According to the district administration, 32 roads have been temporarily closed due to:
- Water overtopping causeways
- Flooded roads
- Overflowing rivers and streams
- Continuous heavy rainfall
Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes and avoid travelling through low-lying areas.
Administration Urges Public to Stay Alert
The district administration has appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and strictly follow safety advisories during the ongoing monsoon spell.
People have also been requested not to venture near rivers or attempt to cross flooded roads and causeways, as water levels may rise further depending on rainfall in upstream areas. Authorities continue to closely monitor the situation and are prepared to take further precautionary measures if heavy rainfall persists.
