The accused has been identified as Anil Devjibhai Mahida, a resident of Janakidham Society near Sama Canal Road in Chhani area of Vadodara. According to officials, the accused was apprehended during routine patrolling conducted by the Crime Branch team near Polo Ground Gate.
Police officials said the Crime Branch team received specific information about a suspicious individual moving around the area on a scooter carrying a gas cylinder. Acting on the tip-off, officers intercepted the suspect near Polo Ground Gate and began questioning him. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to stealing an Activa scooter from the Subhanpura area and an LPG gas cylinder from Manjalpur. Further investigation reportedly revealed that the accused had been involved in several theft incidents over the past one month.
