Valsad Cyber Police News: Cyber fraudsters are no longer limiting their scams to ordinary citizens. In a shocking case from Gujarat, a man allegedly created a fake email ID and forged official letterheads in the name of Valsad MP Dhaval Patel to influence public sector banks and obtain undue benefits. The accused has now been arrested by the Valsad Cyber Crime Police following a swift technical investigation.
Fake Recommendation Letters Sent to SBI Officials
The case came to light after the State Bank of India (SBI) Regional Chairman in Valsad received a recommendation letter from an email ID appearing to belong to Valsad-Dang Member of Parliament Dhaval Patel. When the bank verified the communication with the MP’s office, officials discovered that both the email ID and the recommendation letter were fake.
Following the discovery, Ranjit Kumar Patel, Personal Assistant to MP Dhaval Patel, lodged a complaint at the Valsad Cyber Crime Police Station.
Valsad Cyber Police Arrest Man due to Fake Email ID Created Using MP’s Identity
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly misused:
- MP Dhaval Patel’s name
- Official photograph
- Office address
- Digital identity
Using these details, the accused created a fake email account and circulated forged recommendation letters to senior SBI officials, including the bank’s Chairman and Regional Manager. Police said the primary objective was to misuse the MP’s identity to pressure government banks and gain unauthorized benefits.
Cyber Investigation Leads Police to Ahmedabad
Considering the seriousness of the offence, Valsad Cyber Crime Police immediately launched a technical investigation. Using digital forensics and technical analysis, investigators traced the fake email activity to Isanpur in Ahmedabad. A police team then conducted a raid at Murlidhar Society near Isanpur Crossroads, where they arrested the accused.
The arrested person has been identified as:
Pratik Prafulkumar Desai (30)
Resident of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Multiple Fake Government Identities Found
During interrogation, police uncovered a larger forgery operation. Investigators revealed that the accused had also prepared forged digital letterheads carrying fake signatures and official seals in the names of:
- MP Dhaval Patel
- MP Purushottam Rupala
- West Bengal Police officers including DySP Sandeep Nandi
- Rajib Gon
Police believe the forged documents were intended to create pressure on banks and government departments for illegal financial or administrative gains.
Fake Banking Setup Seized
During the search operation, police recovered several items allegedly used in the crime, including:
- Samsung mobile phone
- Fake official letterheads
- Forged digital signatures
- Fake Bank of Baroda-related setup
- Electronic evidence used to generate fraudulent communications
Authorities suspect the accused planned to misuse these forged documents to influence bank loan approvals and official procedures.
Investigation Continues
Valsad Cyber Crime Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections related to cyber fraud, forgery, identity theft, and cheating.
Officials are now investigating whether:
- Additional victims were targeted.
- More fake identities were created.
- Other individuals were involved in the racket.
