Ahmedabad: Panic briefly gripped on Wednesday after around 10 private Ahmedabad schools received bomb threat emails, prompting immediate security checks by police and specialised teams. The threats were later found to be hoaxes, with officials confirming that no suspicious object was discovered at the locations inspected.
The threatening email reportedly claimed an association with the “Khalistan National Army” and warned of possible explosions at several locations. It also mentioned the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with November 21 cited as a possible date for an attack.
Ahmedabad Schools Put on Alert
The threat emails were received by approximately 10 private schools in Ahmedabad. Following the alerts, police teams, bomb detection and disposal squads, dog squads and anti-sabotage teams were deployed to the affected institutions.
Security personnel conducted thorough searches of the premises. No suspicious items were found, according to officials. Schools also took precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and staff, with authorities advising institutions to follow established emergency and evacuation procedures.
Narendra Modi Stadium Mentioned in Threat
The email also referred to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, warning of a possible blast on November 21. The date reportedly coincides with a scheduled concert by singer Diljit Dosanjh at the venue.
The message also referred to Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with November 1 mentioned in connection with another scheduled Diljit Dosanjh concert. Authorities are treating the threats seriously while investigating the origin and authenticity of the emails.
Police Increase Vigilance
Ahmedabad Zone 7 Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivam Verma said teams were sent to the schools after the threatening emails were received and conducted detailed searches, but nothing suspicious was found. He also noted that several schools, courts and other establishments in Ahmedabad have received similar false bomb threats in the recent past.
The latest incident has prompted renewed security vigilance around educational institutions and major public venues across Ahmedabad.
Citizens Advised Not to Panic
While the threats have been confirmed as hoaxes following security checks, authorities are continuing to investigate the source of the emails. Citizens are advised to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information on social media and follow instructions issued by police and local authorities.
