70+ Fishermen Rescued Amid Iran-Israel Conflict
In a major relief for families in Gujarat, more than 70 fishermen from Valsad district have safely returned to India after being stranded in Iran due to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict. The fishermen were caught in a dangerous war situation, facing continuous bombings and life-threatening conditions.
Their safe return marks a successful rescue effort by the Government of India.
Fishermen Trapped in War Zone Amid Bombing
The fishermen had traveled to Iran in search of better employment opportunities. However, escalating tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States turned into a war-like situation, leaving them stranded.
According to them:
- Continuous bomb blasts were heard nearby
- Fighter jets were flying overhead
- Explosions within 19 km created panic
- Multiple bombs dropped at once created fear of death
The fishermen used social media and other channels to urgently request help from Indian authorities.
Swift Action by Indian Government and Leaders
Following their appeal, Valsad-Dang MP Dhaval Patel and local leaders immediately contacted the central government and the Ministry of External Affairs.
With direct intervention from:
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi
- External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar
A rescue operation was initiated to bring them back safely. The fishermen were evacuated via Armenia and successfully brought to India.
Grand Welcome in Valsad
Upon arrival in Valsad, the fishermen received a warm and emotional welcome from district authorities.
Officials including:
- Collector Bhavya Verma
- Additional Collector Mahipalsinh Chudasama
welcomed them with garlands and support, marking a heartfelt homecoming moment. Families were seen in tears of joy as their loved ones returned safely from a life-threatening situation.

Fishermen Express Gratitude
The rescued fishermen expressed deep gratitude toward the Indian government and officials. They acknowledged the timely support from the Indian Embassy and praised the efforts that ensured their safe return.
Their statements highlight the fear and uncertainty they faced and the relief of finally being back home.
