Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has launched two new bus routes and added an extra bus service to improve public transport connectivity across Ahmedabad and nearby areas. The announcement was made on October 24, 2026, with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurating the services.
The initiative also includes free travel passes for senior citizens aged 65 and above residing in the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) area, providing financial relief to elderly commuters who regularly use city buses.
Two New AMTS Bus Routes
The newly launched routes aim to improve connectivity between residential areas, metro stations and surrounding villages.
- Route 45/1: Thaltej Metro Station to Shela village.
- Route 71/2: Vadaj Terminus to Palasana village.
In addition to these two routes, AMTS has introduced an extra bus service on Route 503, which operates between Adalaj and Kalol Institute College.
Free Bus Travel Passes for Senior Citizens Aged 65+
Under the new initiative, eligible senior citizens aged 65 and above who reside in the AUDA area can obtain free travel passes for AMTS bus services.
The scheme is intended to reduce transportation expenses for elderly residents and make public transport more accessible. Senior citizens should check with AMTS for the latest information about eligibility documents and the application process.
Additional Bus Service to Improve Connectivity
The additional service on Route 503 between Adalaj and Kalol Institute College is expected to provide more travel options for commuters using this corridor.
Together, the new routes and additional service are intended to address passenger demand and strengthen connectivity between Ahmedabad and nearby areas.
What Commuters Should Know
Residents planning to use the new routes should confirm bus timings, frequency and stops with AMTS before travelling. Senior citizens should also verify the procedure for obtaining a free pass and confirm that their residential address falls within the eligible AUDA area.
The launch forms part of efforts to expand public transport access and support affordable mobility for Ahmedabad residents.
