Old Railway Overbridge Demolition to Impact Traffic
Valsad residents should prepare for temporary traffic disruptions as authorities begin dismantling the old railway over bridge (ROB). The work is part of an infrastructure upgrade project led by Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL).
The demolition process will require planned traffic blocks, affecting daily commuters in the city.
2-Hour Daily Closure from April 15 to April 19
According to official notification, the Valsad ROB will remain closed for 2 hours daily between April 15 and April 19, 2026.
The closure is necessary for the removal of old PSC girders from the railway line, a crucial step in the dismantling process.
Closure Timing:
- April 15: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- April 16: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- April 17–19: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Traffic Diversion Routes Announced
To manage congestion during the closure period, traffic will be diverted through alternative routes:
- Kundi Phatak (LC 101)
- Vashier Phatak (LC 97)
- New Valsad ROB (2nd Tier)
Authorities have advised commuters to plan their travel in advance and use these alternative routes to avoid delays.
Reason Behind the Closure
The block has been announced by DFCCIL to facilitate the safe removal of PSC girders from the old bridge.
Once dismantled, these structures will be transported to a secure location. This step is essential for completing the new ROB infrastructure project in Valsad.
