Due to Ambedkar Jayanti Surat City Bus diversions for April 14
The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), through its public transport wing Sitilink, has announced significant changes and diversions for BRTS and City Bus operations scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2026 These adjustments are necessitated by the large-scale celebrations and rallies planned for Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti.
Major Traffic Diversions at Mandarwaja
According to a notification from the Surat Police Commissioner, heavy vehicle movement and parking will be restricted near the Mandarwaja area. This decision stems from ongoing Metro Rail construction on Ring Road and the expected influx of rallies converging at the Dr. Ambedkar statue.
The restrictions will be in effect from 6:00 AM on April 14 until the completion of the events. Impacted areas include:
- Falsawadi Ring Road Overbridge
- Sardar Market to Udhna Darwaja via Avadh Textile Market
- Majura Gate Overbridge to Sahara Darwaja
Affected BRTS and City Bus Routes
To maintain smooth traffic flow, several Sitilink routes have been cancelled or diverted. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
List of Fully Closed Routes
The following routes will remain closed from 6:00 AM until the event concludes:
- City Bus 01 & 02: Adajan G.S.R.T.C. Loop
- City Bus 104: Railway Station to Saniya Kande
- City Bus 105: Railway Station to Chikuwadi
- City Bus 116: Railway Station to Khajod Gam
- City Bus 126: Railway Station to V.N.S.G. University
- City Bus 146: Railway Station to Gail India Ltd (VIP)
- City Bus 153: Umra Gaam to Kapodra
- City Bus 254: Katargam to Limbayat
- City Bus 209, 204, & 302: Various sectors including Godadara and Dabholi
Partially Diverted or Short-Term Routes
Some routes will continue to operate with modified paths:
- BRTS Route 11: Operates only till Kharwar Nagar.
- BRTS Routes 19 & 21: Diverted via Old Bombay Market to New Bombay Market.
- City Bus 106 & 136: Diverted via Chandra Shekhar Azad Bridge to Athwagate.
- City Bus 117: Diverted via Chandra Shekhar Azad Bridge to Anand Mahal Road.

Information for Daily Commuters
With over 2 lakh daily passengers relying on Surat’s 119 km BRTS corridor and 440 city buses, Sitilink has urged citizens to take note of these temporary changes to avoid inconvenience. Normal operations will resume only after receiving clearance from the Traffic Police Department following the conclusion of the festivities.
