Surat Rain last 24 hrs. update: South Gujarat continues to witness one of the season’s heaviest rainfall spells, severely affecting normal life across Surat, Navsari, Valsad and surrounding districts. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Palsana taluka in Surat district recorded the highest rainfall in Gujarat with 17.56 inches, while Kamrej received 15.87 inches during the reporting period.
With rivers, khadis and drainage channels overflowing, authorities have declared a holiday for all schools, colleges, ITIs and Anganwadi centres in Surat and Valsad districts as a precautionary measure.
South Gujarat Records Extremely Heavy Rainfall
The latest rainfall figures reveal that South Gujarat has borne the brunt of the monsoon.

The intense rainfall has resulted in widespread waterlogging, traffic disruption and flooding in several low-lying areas.
Khadi Water Levels Rise, Flood Threat Increases due to Surat Rain
Apart from continuous rainfall inside Surat city, heavy inflow from upstream areas has increased the risk of khadi flooding.
According to the Surat Municipal Corporation’s live monitoring dashboard:
- Bhedwad Khadi has crossed its danger level.
- Simada Khadi is flowing above the overflow mark.
- Mithi Khadi and Bhatena Khadi are also near the danger level.
